Sometimes life is about duality and embracing the inverse so that you can grow and be stimulated. Bravo to Surfing for accomplishing such a feat and making another beautiful album that is about 180 degrees from their iconic debut.

Deep Fantasy was a hard album to follow up. The vaporwave-esque lo-fi slow jams are gone. I'm speaking for a lot of people I know personally when I say "We miss the old Surfing." I had really amazing times with friends with Deep Fantasy whether it was smoking a blunt on the porch watching the rain or just playing an album we all loved. I feel a lot of sentiment is lost on Chrome. Loops on loops on loops of beats but nothing really stands out. I know Surfing lost a member and perhaps that is why the change was so huge. Sadly this new stuff is just not hitting home for me. My friends and I are definitely looking forward to Surfing's future works, because we want a true follow up album to Deep Fantasy and not this over produced hip-hop.

This is not at ALL what I was expecting next from Surfing, and it's amazing. They went from chillwave to trappy, dark, almost experimental vaporwave. Each song is so complicated and atmospheric, it really is an impressive return from Surfing
